Occupational therapy

Parent Coaching & Home Programmes

Coaching, so the other hundred and sixty-seven hours of the week work as hard as the session does.

What it is

Understanding parent coaching

Parent coaching is not a lecture about what you are doing wrong. It is a working session: we look at a specific, real difficulty in your week, understand what is driving it, and design something you can realistically do — with the children, home and schedule you actually have.

It is also the most cost-effective therapy I offer. For some families, four coaching sessions achieve more than a year of weekly clinic appointments — because the change happens where the child actually lives.

When it helps

Signs this may be right for your child

You do not need all of these. One that keeps repeating is reason enough to ask.

  • You have read everything and tried most of itAnd still the mornings go the same way.

  • Advice contradicts itselfFamily, school and the internet all say different things.

  • Clinic gains do not reach homeYour child performs in session, not in the kitchen.

  • Parents are not on the same pageTwo approaches cancelling each other out.

  • Distance makes weekly sessions hardTravel, cost or scheduling gets in the way.

  • You feel like you are failingYou are not. You are working without a map.

What we work on

Inside the programme

Understanding the behaviour

Reading what a behaviour is communicating before trying to stop it.

Routine design

Rebuilding the parts of the day that reliably go wrong.

Setting up the home

Small environmental changes that remove the need for nagging.

Managing meltdowns

What to do during, and far more importantly, before and after.

Play that builds skills

Turning the games you already play into therapy time.

Getting everyone aligned

Both parents, grandparents and helpers running the same plan.

How it works

Three steps, start to finish

The same structure for every family — the content inside is built around your child.

Tell me the real week

Step 1

Tell me the real week

Not a summary — the specifics. Which day, which hour, who was present, what was said, what happened next. Patterns show up quickly once the detail is on the table.

  • A structured intake conversation
  • Video from home, if you are comfortable
  • Identifying the pattern, not the incident
Build the plan together

Step 2

Build the plan together

We design two or three changes — never ten. Each one is specific, written down, and chosen because it fits your household, not because it works in a textbook.

  • Two or three changes at a time
  • Written down, not just discussed
  • Chosen to fit your actual life
Try, report back, refine

Step 3

Try, report back, refine

You run it for two or three weeks and we review honestly — including what did not work. That part matters most; a plan that fails tells us something a plan that succeeds does not.

  • Review every two to three weeks
  • Honest about what failed
  • Ongoing WhatsApp support between

Tools & activities

What we actually use

Nothing here is magic — it is ordinary equipment used with a clear therapeutic reason. Most of what goes home is built from things you already own.

  • Visual schedules
  • Written home plans
  • Video review
  • Sensory diet sheets
  • Reward systems
  • Routine checklists
  • Online sessions
  • WhatsApp follow-up

Progress

What progress looks like

Goals are written in plain language, so you always know what we are working toward and whether we are getting there.

  • Mornings that start without shouting

  • Both parents using the same approach

  • Confidence in your own judgement

  • Skills that hold up outside the clinic

FAQ

About parent coaching

Can we do this online?

Yes. Parent coaching works very well by video call, which makes it practical for families outside Beirut or abroad.

Does my child need to come?

Usually not. Some sessions are better without them, so you can speak freely. If I need to see your child directly, I will say so.

Is this instead of therapy, or as well as it?

Either. For some children it is the whole intervention; for others it runs alongside weekly sessions so the two reinforce each other.

We have tried parenting courses before.

Courses teach general principles to a room. This is the opposite — one family, one week, one specific difficulty, and a plan built around your child in particular.
